I am a dedicated educator, proud parent, and educational leader in Oxford Community Schools. Prior to becoming a school administrator, I proudly served our school community as an educator. During my 10 years of teaching, I enjoyed spending three years at Oxford’s Intermediate School and seven years at Oxford High School as a Health/Physical Educator and coach. I am an Oxford Wildcat through and through! My husband is a Technology Specialist, Freshmen Volleyball and Junior Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach and Junior Varsity Lacrosse Coach. Our children attend Oxford Schools and are proud to be Wildcats!
I have earned three college degrees and an endorsement in the field of education. While attending Wayne State University, I was a varsity cheerleader and the secretary of the HPE Major’s Club. As a follow up to the HPE teaching certificates, I received an endorsement from Saginaw Valley State University in K-12 Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. During my 11 years as an elementary principal, we inspired our students to learn, to grow, to care, and to achieve. We believed in recognizing and meeting the needs of our students. Our school offered students wonderful opportunities both in and out of the classroom. A few of our learning activities included, RULER Social Emotional Learning program, 5th Grade Camp, and Field Trips which enrich our curriculum. Our strong academic programs included Writer’s Workshop, Math Expressions, Math Recovery, Reading Recovery, and a kit-based Science program. Our exploratory classes included art, music, physical education, Spanish, and orchestra (grades 4 & 5). I believe in encouraging parents to be active participants in the learning community through volunteering in classrooms and engaging in the parent organizations or programs. In my experiences at the elementary level, our PSC sponsored many wonderful activities to help us educate the whole child including, Watermelon Welcome, Haunted House, Movie Nights, Spring Fair, and much more. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to experience many rich student experiences, build staff camaraderie, and collaborate with parents, In the Winter of 2018, Lakeville Elementary received International Baccalaureate World School re-authorization. Summer of 2013, Lakeville was identified as a Michigan "Reward School". Michigan Reward Schools qualify by consistently demonstrating high achievement, high improvement, or "Beating the Odds" performance. In the Spring of 2010, we were named an International Baccalaureate Candidate School. In 2009, we were excited to receive a the Michigan Exemplary Schools’ Blue Ribbon. This is an intensive three-tier application process that identifies Michigan’s exemplary schools. Our learning community was extremely proud to be a Blue Ribbon school! |
